Autorickshaw driving

SPEED Trust was the first indian organization in 2004 to enable women to drive three-wheeler taxi (autorickshaws). This innovative and revolutionary program allowed dozens of women to leave a very poor life and helped them do an once exclusively male activity. They now earn a salary two or three times higher than that of other families in the slum.

After a 6 months training, candidates pass their driving licence. SPEED Trust finances the vehicle; they will reimburse the organization and that way, they are sure to be full owner instead of renting their vehicle from other renting owners.
